Four Views of a Perfume Bottle

This project involved creating four different interpretations of a perfume bottle: avante garde, geometric, painterly and nirvana.

Self Portrait

In developing my self portrait, I chose to use a collection of items that represent me; similar to the way Glaser used the heart to represent love of New York. I selected a pencil to represent writing and drawing, since those are currently major activities in my life. I selected the computer mouse because the computer is an integral part of modern life and my life. Finally, I selected a platform shoe as a bridge between the past and the present. I wore them growing up in the sixties and seventies, and they are back in style. They symbolize my attempt to stay informed and to always re-envision myself.

Designs Principles: Color, Space, Unity, Variety and Emphasis

This project involved developing images that encapsulated certain principles of design.

Graphic Designer Two-Page Spread

For this project I selected artist and graphic designer, Milton Glaser. He is an internationally known designer. In selecting the color scheme for the two-page spread, I chose colors that Glaser uses in his own work. Because his style tends to be bold, I chose shades of red and blue.

In choosing the artwork, most of the pieces that I picked may not be well known, but they are representative of Glaser's work. I included his Bob Dylan album cover, since it is an iconic image. I named the piece "Milton Glaser: Designing Is Work" because of Glaser's video interview "Art is Work".

Fantasy Animal Project

In creating the Fantasy Animal Project, I worked simultaneously on three different animals: a winged fairy, a mermaid and a centaur. After I decided on the centaur, I combined five different photos: two background castle images, a horse, a swordsman and a shield.

Strawberry Desert and Drink Cookbook

This cookbook developed from some research on the history of the strawberry. There are several dessert and drink recipes in the book.

Summertime Collage

This image is a compilation of five different photographs that combine to express the ideal of summer.

Sample Book

This sample book is a compilation of paper samples, fonts, color builds and color schemes.

Bridge Award

This is an ad in a program book for the Toledo University Medical Center's Bridge Awards.

Cinema Paradiso

This is an ad for the showing of Cinema Paradiso commissioned by the Maumee Indoor Theatre.

ADAPT Anniversary

An ad celebrating the 25th anniversary celebration of the national ADAPT advocacy organization.
